Teenagers have unique risks to their health and well being. As you may know from reading my articles in the MPG newspapers, we have been running a short series on issues of concern to teens and their parents. The already published articles along with other articles we feel are of interest to teens and/or their parents are found below. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has put together a packet to aid gynecologist in caring for teens. This includes links to web sites that have information for both teens and their parents. The links to some of those sites are found after the articles. We have looked at most of these sites but because all teens are different we would urge parents to review the site to see if it is appropriate for your teen. The links follow Dr. Savage's articles.

Teen pregnancy Sponsored by the national campaign to prevent teen pregnancy Eating disorders Excellent information about eating disorders. Love your body Information about "love your body campaign" designed to speak out against ads and media images that are detrimental to the images of girls and women. Bubble monkey Accurate information about drug use for teens. Young women's health Sponsored by Boston's Children's Hospital this site has health information designed to empower and educate girls and young women. Your First Dr./Gyn Visit An interactive guide to help you understand your first visit to the gynecologist. Mothers Guide to Puberty Published by Tampax, has good information about the changes that occur to girls and boys during puberty. Menstruation and Puberty This site is published by the makers of Kotex. It has similar information as the Tampax site but written in a format designed to appeal to teenagers.
