There is a wealth of medical and other information on the Internet. The sites below are ones we have found useful or fun. In general we have found the medical sites to be reliable but cannot guarantee the accuracy of the information. When reviewing web sites make sure you know the source and if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is!!!

American Reproductive Health Professionals. Home page has links to information about contraception including an interactive questionnaire to help you decide on the appropriate method. Also has information about menopause, sexually transmitted diseases and other reproductive health topics.

Hystersisters.org Has good information about recovery from a hysterectomy. Recommended by a patient.

National Vulvodynia Foundation Dedicated to women experiencing chronic vulvar pain.

Interstitial Cystitis Association Has a lot of information about diagnosis and treatment of interstitial cystitis. Start at the "site map". Also has good information for women with vulvodynia (look under "related diseases").

Female Sexual Dysfunction An informative article about female sexual problems written by a leader in this field. The host site also has an article about Viagra and women. Click on "medical treatments for sexual dysfunction" at the top of the page.

Pelvic Pain Society Web page of the International Pelvic Pain Society. Has information for patients suffering from pelvic pain.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome support An internet based informational and support network for women who have polycystic ovarian syndrome.

Massachusetts Teratogen Information Service A Massachusetts based organization that answers specific and general questions about teratogens (substances that may cause birth defects) and pregnancy. You can call or email them with specific questions.

For Parents:

Kids Health.org Children's health and wellness information.

PBS Kids web page. Lots of fun for young children. Web sites and activities with the PBS kids characters (Arthur, Teletubbies etc,)

Talkingwithkids.org Tips on talking to your children about sex, violence, drugs and alcohol.

Facts for Families published by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, 70 fact sheets on subjects such as eating disorders, stress, normal development.

Center for Young Women's Health. Advice from Children's Hospital for young women and their parents on a variety of health issues.

Mothers Guide to Puberty Published by Tampax, has good information about the changes that occur to girls and boys during puberty.

Menstruation and Puberty This site is published by the makers of Kotex. It has similar information as the Tampax site but written in a format designed to appeal to teenagers.

Eat Right.org The web page of the American Dietetic Association. Lots of nutrition information.

American Heart Association Delicious Eating, includes all you need to know about healthy eating. Tips on supermarket shopping, calories and recipes. Also has a section on fitness. Presented in a cookbook format.
